‘주폭’ 범죄 보도의 프레임 분석
이번 연구는 ‘주폭’ 범죄에 대한 국내 언론의 보도 내용을 분석하여 언론에 나타난 ‘주폭’의 표현 방식이 나 이미지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이번 연구는 2008년 1월부터 2018년 1월까지 ‘주폭’에 관련된 보도를 실시한 방송사, 중앙 일간지, 그리고 지역 종합지 등의 1484건의 보도 내용을 분석하면서 각 시기별, 각 매체별 보도 프레임을 판별하였다. 매체별로 ‘주폭’에 대한 전반적인 보도 프레임을 파악하고 보도 프레임 경쟁기 동안 각 매체별 보도 프레임을 비교, 분석하였다. 이번 연구는 ‘주폭’ 관련 1484개의 대량 기사에서 제시된 보도 프레임을 판별하기 위해서 토픽모델링(topic modeling)분석과 의미망 분석(semantic network analysis)을 사용하였다. 보도 프레임을 구성하는 속성(attribute)을 추출하고 의미망 분석을 통해서 각 보도 프레임의 구성을 파악하고 의미를 해석하였다. 또 보도 프레임의 다양성을 측정하기 위해 의미 연결망의 집중도(centralization index)을 활용하였다. 의미망을 토대로 해석한 결과, 언론 보도에서 나타난 ‘주폭’ 에 대한 이미지(프레임)는 주로 상습화된 동네 폭력으로 나타났다. ‘주폭’은 우리 주위에서 일상적이고 반복적으로 벌어지는 범죄로 공원, 동네 식당이나 술집같은 일상의 공간에서 우리의 삶에 해를 끼치고 있는데 경찰을 비롯한 공권력에 의해 적극적으로 해결되고 있는 것으로 묘사된 것으로 나타났다.
A Frame Analysis of ‘Drunken Violence’ in Crime Reporting
The purpose of this study is to identify the image of ‘drunken violence’ in the media by analyzing the content of the ‘drunken violence’ crime reporting. This study analyzed 1,484 news articles of TV stations, national newspapers, and regional newspapers from 2008 to 2018. This study compared the frames of ‘drunken violence’ by media and by time periods. This study used topic modeling analysis and semantic network analysis to identify the media frames describing ‘drunken violence.’ Extracting the attributes constituting the semantic network, this study interpreted the frames, based on the composition of the semantic networks. In addition, the centralization index of the semantic network was used to measure the theme diversity of the media frames. As the result of the semantic network analysis, the image of 'drunken violence' in the media reports appeared mainly as a chronic minor offense that tortures the neighborhood. ‘Drunken violence' was described as a minor offense but was taking place in everyday living space such as parks, restaurants, and bars. It also appeared to be managed by police and other authorities.
